Welcome to Chorus!
We all belong to a group of some sort. A group of neighbors, a club, a fan group, a study group. Where do you get together online to share and organize?
There are options. Depending on what you need, some of the options are fine. There are usually trade-offs. Sometimes you end up using a tool that wasn’t quite intended for the way you are using it. Other times, you are using a “free” site that makes money by selling your data and bombarding you with ads. Or there is an algorithm that doesn’t always show posts, or prioritizes them out of order. Some members of the group may not want to join because they don’t want to use big tech sites that mine their data.
I have belonged to organizations and groups throughout my life, and it seems like finding an online space has only gotten more challenging over the years, even as technology has flourished. I began building Chorus as a labor of love, as a fun project that I would enjoy using for groups that I belong to.
While using Chorus as a member is free, you will notice that hosting a group is not. That is because it does cost money to create and run an online service, and we’re not selling ads or your information. And I believe that is worth something.
Chorus is very much still a work-in-progress,
but maybe it already has all most of the features you need for your group. Or,
it could be missing something you would like to see, or even can’t live without.
If so, I’d love to hear about it.
In any case, I hope you will give Chorus a try and let me know what you think.
You can get in touch by emailing hello@chorus.pub.
All the best,
-Harold
